"REO Rental Program - The Federal Housing Finance Agency and Department of Housing and Urban Development are expected to roll out this spring."

The Obama Administration, in conjunction with federal regulators and led by the overseer of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are very close to announcing a pilot program to sell government-owned foreclosures in bulk to investors as rentals.  Their approach is to sell distressed single-family houses, renovating them, and lease them to residents who are committed to a path to future home ownership as a viable solution to our nation's housing crisis. The rent-to-own program will be a 3-5 year agreement.

Real estate agents should brace themselves as REOs will bring a few bright spots for real estate investors - namely in the residential rental segment throughout 2012.
